Terms of use
Hoops Stock Exchange is currently a free beta. Features, preliminary estimates, and data may change as the service develops. A disclaimer does not guarantee that every data use is cleared under every third-party right or law.
Using HSE
By accessing or using Hoops Stock Exchange (“HSE”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site. HSE is operated from Kansas, United States. Questions can be sent to HoopsStockExchange@yahoo.com.
Community market information
HSE compares basketball players and rookie draft picks using community preferences. Displayed values, rankings, changes, signals, team fits, and trade suggestions are estimates for informational and entertainment purposes. They are not guarantees of player performance, actual trade prices, financial advice, or a promise that another league manager will accept a trade. Assets with few comparisons may still be driven mainly by a preliminary starting estimate.
Community comparisons determine the market values. To provide starting estimates while votes accumulate, HSE also uses available age, draft details, and recent multi-season NBA production. Rookie players without NBA production use age and draft details. Production data affects preliminary estimates only; raw statistical lines are not displayed. Player profile facts and source data may be incomplete, delayed, or incorrect. Player birth dates come from Wikidata; positions, draft details, and production data come from BALLDONTLIE, with Wikidata filling available metadata gaps.
Accounts and saved teams
You may vote without creating an account. An account lets you save a team across devices. You are responsible for keeping your password private and for activity on your account. Use a valid email address so you can request account help and password recovery. Password-reset email is available only when HSE’s email service is configured.
You can delete your account and saved team from the signed-in account menu. Votes are kept separately from accounts to maintain market values and history, so deleting an account does not remove past votes or vote-derived market information.
Voting and acceptable use
Do not interfere with the service, manipulate the market using automated or deceptive activity, attempt unauthorized access, or use HSE in violation of applicable law. The current voting system limits repeat comparisons from the same browser and rate-limits rapid voting; those measures do not guarantee that every vote represents a unique person.
Ownership and data sources
HSE’s software, design, and original site materials belong to their respective owners. BALLDONTLIE and Wikidata are independent data sources. BALLDONTLIE’s current published terms permit certain commercial data uses subject to restrictions, including restrictions on competing services and reselling data in its original, unmodified form. BALLDONTLIE notes that data may be compiled from third-party sources and that its permission does not clear rights it does not control. HSE is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NBA, any team, BALLDONTLIE, or Wikidata. Do not imply such affiliation or endorsement. We will review source terms and applicable rights as the service changes.
Changes and availability
We may update features, correct data, change these terms, or suspend parts of the service. The “Last updated” date above identifies the latest revision. Continued use after revised terms are posted means you accept the revised terms to the extent allowed by law.
Disclaimers and limits
To the extent permitted by applicable law, HSE is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties that the site or its information will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, or suitable for your needs. To the extent permitted by applicable law, HSE will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where applicable law requires otherwise. Any court proceeding must be brought in a court with jurisdiction in Kansas, unless applicable law requires another venue.
